The Vitamin D Society would like to invite medical professionals and the public to attend a free information session on vitamin D and disease prevention on May 22, 2013. The vitamin D symposium features a presentation by Dr. Robert Heaney, M.D. Professor of Medicine at Creighton University, a leading vitamin D researcher and author of over 400 original research papers on nutrition and vitamin D. Dr. Heaney will present an overview of the latest research papers showing the relationship between optimal vitamin D blood levels and disease prevention.

Joining Dr. Heaney will be Carole Baggerly, Director of GrassrootsHealth.net a public health organization dedicated to increasing the public’s awareness of vitamin D health benefits. Carole, who is a breast cancer survivor, will be presenting research on vitamin D and its importance in preventing breast cancer and its role in pregnancy and children’s health. Dr. Marc Sorenson, EdD, founder of the Sunlight Institute and author of the book “Vitamin D3 and Solar Power for Optimal Health” will report on the best source of vitamin D. Special guest Dr. Ron Puhky from InspireHealth will discuss the role of vitamin D in integrative cancer care.

The event is designed to help educate people about vitamin D and its many extraordinary benefits related to health and wellness. “This research based presentation will provide clarification for the public on how to achieve optimal vitamin D levels to prevent disease, review the best sources of vitamin D and educate on how to monitor vitamin D levels,” states Perry Holman, Executive Director of the Vitamin D Society. “This is an opportunity for people to learn about vitamin D, see the research results and take action for their personal health” added Holman.
